POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides professional nursing care using assessment, planning, teaching, treating and evaluating the patient. Provides safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, educative, individualized and goal directed nursing care to patients and families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current licensure in the State/Commonwealth as a registered nurse.
2. Meets the needs of the nursing service as demanded by the schedule, particularly when overtime hours and time changes become necessary.
3. Only RNs with ACLS may give sedation and monitor the patient during procedures.
4. Good written skills and verbal command of the English language.
5. Skills in dexterity for moving and positioning patients.
6. Ability to work well with physicians, fellow employees and patients.
7. Positive response to supervision and criticism.
8. Requires extensive mobility.
9. Periodic pushing, pulling and lifting patients.
10. Potential exposure to chemical agents
11. Possible exposure to patients with communicable diseases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Uses professional nursing judgment when treating patient problems.
2. Assesses and monitors patients during the phases of patient care.
3. Demonstrates competency with monitoring equipment.
4. Performs as an advocate for excellent patient care.
5. Provides education and instruction to patients and family.
6. Records nursing notes accurately.
7. Communicates a positive and caring attitude towards the patient and the family.
8. Is skilled in the use of surgical and monitoring equipment.
9. Participates in the safety committee.
10. Become an active member in the infection prevention program to include, but not limited to, reviewing program policies, participating in in-services, and reporting compliance.
11. Participates in Incident Reporting.
12. Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by Gastroenterology Associates of Central Va., Inc.
13. Functions as a member of Gastroenterology Associates of Central Va., Inc.’s team.
14. Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned.
