SUMMARY
To provide developmental instruction services for children who are exhibiting developmental delays or are at risk for delays due to an established condition, including consultation with other specialists and coaching of caregivers, in order to promote the optimal developmental potential for each child.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide developmental instruction and consultation services. Sessions will generally be 60 minutes weekly depending upon the authorization and will be provided at the family’s home, in community settings, or at the center, which may include individual or group sessions. Complete documentation of sessions and charges in software during sessions or at least by the end of the day.
Initiate services on referrals from HMG Care Coordinator or HMG Program Coordinator. Coordinate with supervisor for initiating documentation in software, establishing a plan of care & ensure appropriate case/ demographics are entered and updated on a regular basis in the child’s electronic medical record.
Complete semi-annual progress reports and all necessary authorization documents according to the program guidelines.
Consult with other team members (physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists) as needed. Document consultation sessions on required forms and scan into the child’s electronic medical record.
Coordinate with HMG Program Coordinator for review of weekly schedule. Cancelled appointments may be filled with substitute appointments or evaluations.
Consult with appropriate team members to assist with the referral of children to other community services or supports. Complete an EXIT evaluation on children who will no longer participate in in the program due to meeting outcome targets, no longer showing a developmental delay, moving, etc.
Regularly participate in program/agency activities related to support for families (festivals, respite evenings, screenings, and workshops), public awareness of agency services and fundraising activities, etc.
Participate in community developmental screening outreach events.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must be certified or meet the qualifications to become certified as an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist by CMS/ Early Steps in accordance with the attached criteria from the Provider Handbook.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, medical records and governmental regulatory guidelines. Ability to complete documentation of a child’s developmental progress according to regulatory guidelines. Ability to complete professional business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before a group (i.e. community organizations, media representatives, business professionals, fellow agency employees, etc)
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Florida Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record, proof of adequate automobile insurance, FDLE background check/ abuse registry clearance, Affidavit of Good Moral Character. Approved provider for CMS/Early Steps and Early Intervention Medicaid.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds and rarely required to lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to demonstrate use of manipulatives with children and to be able to monitor children’s movements in home and in clinic settings to ensure their safety.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

~ Good organizational skills to complete blended responsibilities of sessions, communication with
service coordinators or other team members, & planning for sessions.
BEGINNING SALARY: $19.23 hourly/ $40,000 annually
STATUS: Non-Exempt
WORKING HOURS: FT (40 hours weekly)
Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to meet program/family needs.
