Job Summary:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer supports the Director of Engineering in achieving company objectives for safety, quality, delivery, productivity and continuous improvement, and takes a lead role in the implementation and sustained use of lean methods and tools to bring about improved efficiency and business success.
The work schedule is a 9/80 schedule so employees work 80 hours in 9 days (Monday - Friday) in a 2 week period, and have the day off every other Friday.
Job Duties:
- Lead continuous improvement in manufacturing processes by reducing the costs and improving the flow of material
- Recommend and implement ideas to reduce variation, improve efficiency, and reduce costs by improving tooling, processing, and equipment use consistent with lean manufacturing practices.
- Lead the design review process to ensure manufacturability of new products, and review prints and samples against customer specifications.
- Lead, teach and coach employees in all aspects of lean manufacturing implementation and maintenance.
- Lead root cause identification and corrective actions to resolve unsafe conditions or non-compliant materials, process, or product.
- Analyze and calculate payback and recommend equipment for the manufacture of products.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of lean concepts and principles and ability to lead, teach, and coach employees in all aspects of lean manufacturing implementation and maintenance.
- 10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with strong working knowledge of equipment, materials, methods and practices used in production operations. Advanced CNC manufacturing environment a plus.
- Experience with Solid-works
- Strong problem solving, root cause analysis and cause prevention.
- Strong customer interfacing experience and supplier relations
- Ability to work independently and show strong initiative and ownership of ideas and projects
- Exceptional communication skills: verbal and written
- Understanding of ISO, NADCAP, AS9100 and other business process systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand the use of production blueprints and specifications
- Experience in developing strong preventative maintenance programs.
- Ability to convert manufacturing process plans into action; provide implementation of planned processing
- Effective time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects at once
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
