Mechanical Engineer
This position will provide labor and mechanic operations support to NAVFAC PAC Planning Design and Construction Design Technical Support Services. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, conducts simulations, and interprets data to optimize designs. Manages projects, ensures compliance with industry standards, and oversees the testing and implementation of mechanical systems for efficient and reliable outcomes.

- Estimated Starting Salary Range for Mechanical Engineer : Pay commensurate with experience.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities Include:
- Design HVAC systems and plumbing systems for new construction and renovation projects with construction costs exceeding $20M, or design petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) systems for projects with construction costs exceeding $10M
- Create designs for a variety of HVAC systems and equipment, including but not limited to:
- Variable primary chilled water systems
- Air cooled chillers
- Water cooled chillers
- Split D-X systems
- Unitary systems
- Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS)
- Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems
- HVAC controls
- Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems
- Design a wide range of plumbing systems, including but not limited to:
- Domestic cold and hot water heating systems
- Compressed air systems
- Medical gas systems
- Ensure designs comply with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
- Utilize AutoCAD 2022 and Revit 2021 for design work
- Provide technical information and recommendations to stakeholders on future facility repairs and investments.
- Provides technical expertise and project management advice and guidance.
- Conducts comprehensive technical reviews of professional studies, reports, and analysis.
- Collaborates with stakeholders, architects, engineers, and construction managers.
- Defines and Develops engineering project requirements and translate them into Performance Work Statements/Statements of Work.
- Prepares reports and recommendations for project sponsors and stakeholders.
- Oversees the development, evaluation or review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities; assesses the feasibility of proposed plans, projects, and equipment.
- Conducts Quality Assurance reviews of on-going engineering projects and provides reports and recommendations to the client.
- Conducting engineering analysis, simulations, and calculations to ensure design feasibility and performance optimization.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and specifications.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Mechanical Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Engineering college curriculum.
- Minimum four (4) year degree with at least six (6) years of Design Management and/or Design experience
- U.S. Professional Engineering Registration (P.E.) in the relevant discipline is highly desirable but not required
- Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Engineering principles and expertise in the relevant discipline
- Strong understanding of technical concepts, principles, and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering project design
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written
- Experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and briefing management personnel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), AutoCAD, and/or Revit
- Ability to adapt to new software such as eCMS, MS Teams, and Zoom
- United States citizenship required
- Security clearance - SECRET (TIER 3) preferred or ability to obtain interim security clearance prior to onboarding
- Provide satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship (U.S. or naturalized)
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
