Initiator Assembly Supervisor*

Job Summary:
The Initiator Assembly Supervisor will oversee the production and manufacturing activities for CED’s Electro-Explosive Devices (EED). This role is crucial in supporting the planning and execution of daily production activities to meet revenue targets, ensuring all movement points (internal/external) are visible and adhere to schedule requirements. The individual is responsible for promoting safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the department.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Team Management: Plan and manage assembly technician direct reports, ensuring operational activities align with production schedules and organizational priorities.
3. Coordination: Coordinate and facilitate work execution for outside processing and external department activities (e.g., testing, inspection, N-ray).
5. Skills Monitoring: Monitor assembly team skills and competencies, identifying technical gaps and areas for strategic training initiatives.
7. Collaboration: Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, and Contracts to review production schedules, ensuring resources and asset capacity support business needs.
8. Meetings: Facilitate and lead production status meetings, reporting department productivity metrics and schedule updates.
9. Work Requests: Plan, dispatch, and manage progress of standard and non-standard Work Request activity for the EED product line.
10. Continuous Improvement: Serve as an ambassador of change, identifying and proposing areas for continuous improvement in quality, cost, and schedule.
11. Compliance: Review technical procedures and build records to ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements and customer/contractual obligations.
12. Technical Discussions: Participate in technical discussions or review meetings with Engineering and Quality.
13. Procurement Support: Support procurement of floor stock items, tooling/fixturing components, and department consumables.
Requirements: Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory/management capacity within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in aerospace or medical devices, with an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred.
- Knowledge and training in Process Safety Management (PSM) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) preferred.
- Six Sigma certification is a plus.
- Advanced understanding of manufacturing methods and specialized production techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels across the organization.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and milestone-driven production environment.
- Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to talk or hear.
- Ability to sit or stand in non-conductive work areas; occasionally required to walk.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle and feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to work with lot sizes up to several thousand for lightweight, repetitive tasks.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but ear protection may be necessary in some instances.
