Summary:
The role of the Lab Tech Molecular will be to actively support and comply with clinical laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. They must be able to adhere to analytical schedules to maintain a turnaround time of results including STATS or critical results to clients. This position will perform Clinical tests like Molecular UTI, Covid, RPP Respiratory Panel, etc, laboratory testing for molecular biology diagnostics. The individual will follow validated procedures for DNA extraction and real-time PCR, as well as perform data analysis, and assist in writing patient reports. The individual will be responsible for proficiency in the use of all equipment and procedures for the assigned area with strict adherence to quality control and quality assurance assessments. Responsibilities:
· Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
· Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
· Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
· Review and release test results.
· Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, COLA, CAP, and/or ISO safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
· Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
· Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
· Perform molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction and real-time PCR and generate concise patient reports.
· Contribute technical knowledge to assist with the development of test plans, experimental designs, and analytical methods
Work Experience:
· 2 - 5 years Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, molecular biology or a related field.
· Licensure: ASCP, NCA, AMT or equivalent; or be eligible to sit for licensing exam in Georgia
· ASCP certification in Microbiology or Molecular Biology is a plus.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
· 2-5 years of Laboratory experience running, UTI Panels, Covid and RPP Required with releasing results.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working in Microbiology Department within a clinical laboratory setting.
· Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or Biological Science is preferred.
· Ability to multi-task and adhere to requirements of the Quality Management System
· Ability to work with Phase Contrast and Light Microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices.
· Must have good communication skills (candidate will have some client interaction)
· Good computer skills, both in typing and MS Office Suite
· Attention to detail and the ability to maintain client confidentiality.

· Work under pressure and meet deadlines.
