Job Title: Lead Teacher
Reports to: Director of Elementary School
Start Date: July 1, 2024
Primary responsibilities include:
- Implementing and fostering a joyful classroom environment and encouraging all learners in a child-centered approach.
- Creating and implementing authentic Arts-Integrated instruction and Project-Based Learning practices in an academically rigorous setting.
- Teaching the whole child, including social/emotional learning, with a focus on logical and restorative approaches to problem solving.
- Providing thoughtful differentiated instruction to each student.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with parents and families through open, consistent, and positive communication.
- Creating and/or maintaining appropriate records and assessments.
- Developing and implementing appropriate intervention strategies in collaboration with student support staff.
- Maintaining professional competence through participation in professional development opportunities.
- Consistently collaborating with team members.
- Participating in school-sponsored community events.
- Leading classroom assistants, student teachers, and/or volunteers in addressing the needs of students.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education or related field.
- Certification in area of instruction.
- Commitment to progressive education practices.
- Experience in a classroom setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a lead teacher in New Orleans.
- Background in the Arts.
- Diverse life and work experiences.
- Demonstrated success working in urban settings.
