Arlington County's Department of Technology Services is hiring three experienced Senior Network Engineers to be a part of the Technology Infrastructure and Operations Division's Network Engineering team. This team collaborates extensively with the Connect Arlington Fiber team, both user and server support and the security teams to ensure all Arlington County network and mission-critical resources are available. These positions provide Network Architecture level support for the networks in both the County and School facilities.
Responsibilities include:

Designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting a growing network infrastructure by building secure, scalable, and supportable network architectures for enterprise, MAN/WAN, Cloud, ITS, and SCADA networks;

Providing Tier 1-4 level support for the Department related to network and cybersecurity issues;

Serving as principal members of the incident response team to build and implement robust network systems;

Developing and regularly reviewing network documentation, including diagrams, drawings, statements of work, contracts, SLAs, standards, policies and procedures to identify areas of concerns and to recommend improvements and solutions; and

Providing support and mentorship for junior and mid-career network analysts, engineers, and contractors.
The ideal candidate will have:

Expert level understanding of Network Infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, 802.1X, Multicast) and an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols;

Advanced network troubleshooting experience utilizing packet analysis tools; and/or
-
Experience formulating disaster Recovery best practices.
Minimums:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, or a related field; and
-
Considerable experience managing programs and systems at a senior level, including developing, implementing, and troubleshooting highly complex technology systems while researching, analyzing and developing solutions to complex operational problems; and
-
CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Center or demonstratable equivalent experience.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-or-year basis.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

CCIE or equivalent certification;
-
Cloud Infrastructure experience with cloud providers such as AWS and Microsoft Azure;
-
Cisco Nexus Dashboard and Data Center infrastructure experience;
-
Aruba Wireless Controllers and wireless network infrastructure;
-
WAN/SD-WAN design, documentation, and implementation using VPN technologies; and/or
-
Experience with UNIX/LINUX command line and scripting tools (Python, perl, Bash).
