The Accounting Analyst will play a crucial role in our finance department by supporting various accounting activities, including financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting. As a member of the Administration division, the Accounting Analyst will embody the Buchanan values of Determination, Integrity, Safety, and Community in all their work.
What You’ll Do on a Typical Day
· Drive Month-End Success: Record month-end expenses and accruals with precision.
· Ensure Excellence: Maintain compliance with accounting and financial regulations.
· Master Reconciliations: Perform detailed account reconciliations.
· Lead Ledger Management: Keep our general ledger accurate and up-to-date.
· Ace Audit Preparations: Get our finances audit-ready with thorough preparations.
· Manage Fixed Assets: Set up, update, and maintain our fixed assets effectively.
· Track Reserves: Accurately record and track reserves.
· Policy Enforcement: Ensure adherence to the travel and entertainment policy.
· Cost Allocation: Ensure all monthly costs are accounted for and allocated properly.
· Incentivize and Rebate: Handle customer volume incentives and rebates.
· Claims Handling: Manage claims and excess cargo with expertise.
· Collaborate Closely: Work with the Settlements team for seamless operations.
· Debt Management: Prepare and record bad debt accurately.
· Equipment Rental Tracking: Stay on top of equipment rentals.
What We’re Looking For
- Knowledge of GAAP
- 3-5 years of experience
- Experience in transportation preferred
- Experience with McLeod software preferred
