Position Summary: Responsible for performing tasks required to independently isolate issues with tools and molds by taking them apart, evaluating, repairing, reworking and or replacing with new parts that have been either fabricated inside or purchased outside. Tasks must be performed and completed in a timely and efficient manner capable of producing quality parts to specifications when returned to production without interruption in service to both internal and external customers.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Personal Traits:
· High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
· Journeyman card not required but will be given special consideration.
· Previous Tooling, Tool and Injection Mold repair or Tool Maker experience (Min of 5 years preferred).
· Excellent written and verbal skills.
· Demonstrated eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
· Demonstrated basic math skills.
· Basic understanding of injection mold process.
Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:
· Perform all functions in adherence with Pliant Plastics safety and quality expectations
· Experience in the use of tools and machines both mechanical and CNC such as:
· Vertical milling machines
· Lathe
· Drill press
· EDM (Wire and Sinker)
· Grinder
· Welders
· Torches
· Overhead cranes, hoists and lift assists
· Hand tools
· Perform preventative maintenance on tool and injection molds.
· Disassembling, cleaning, and inspecting mold and components for damage.
· Reassembling molds in the proper sequence without damaging components.
· Responsible for changing cores in mold properly and in a timely manner to support production.
· Completion of minor repairs (i.e.: ejector pins, stone vents, burrs from cavities, etc.).
· Ability of spotting molds and mold components to assure less than 0.0005” variation.
· Responsible for making continuous improvements efforts to drive tooling improvements in order to successfully meet production requirements for consistent quality product.
· Help develop specific tooling maintenance records and repair procedures.
· Provide guidance, direction, mentoring and coaching to less experienced team members.
· Maintain good working relationship with venders, suppliers, customers, team members and project teams.
· Read and interpret CAD data, blueprints, GD&T, CMM reports and other customer specification communication methods.
· Advanced troubleshooting methods to be used for maintaining tooling, equipment and system programs.
· Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as assigned by the supervisor.
· Ensure compliance with Pliant’s environmental management system and look for opportunities to reduce our impact on the environment.
Mechanicals: (equipment operation or physical dexterity required for the position) - Manual, semi-automatic, and automatic equipment. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Work Environment: Environmentally controlled manufacturing environment, moderate noise, protective clothing, including but not limited to; safety glasses/goggles & steel toe work shoes.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $74,880.00 per year
