Pulmonary Medicine Associates (PMA) has been treating patients in the greater Sacramento area for over 50 years and is a unique and exciting place to work. Duties include:
- Reviews and sends visit notes to referring providers via electronic submission
- Scans documents and uploads into EMR on a daily basis
- Contacts patients to remind them to complete outstanding orders
- Securely shreds paper PHI within 3 business days from upload into EMR
- Clears Clinical in-box and interoffice mail daily
- Sorts, triages, and delivers incoming documents to correct users
- Processes, splits, reclassifies, labels and routes large documents according to PMA protocol
- Reviews and processes all requests for a Patient’s medical record following strict HIPAA guidelines
- Faxes patient information as requested using EMR Fax
- Mails patient records via encrypted CD or arranges for patient pick up
- Notifies supervisor of printed patient records for invoicing.
- Ensures State Disability requests are invoiced and uploaded via secured portal
- Performs regular audits and reclassifies/re-labels documents in patient chart as necessary
- Processes all Legal Subpoenas for records and Audit Requests for Risk Adjustment by insurance companies
- Ensures payment is collected prior to the release of medical records when applicable
- Follows all PMA medical records policies and procedures.

Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school graduation or GED.
- Minimum of one-year related work experience; experience in a medical environment required.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Strong computer skills. Previous experience using an EMR strongly preferred.
- Strong detail orientation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and knowledge of HIPAA and Privacy Laws.
- Ability to file and maintain patient records, files and other correspondence.
- Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities.
- Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance. Ability to drive to different clinics and run occasional errands.
