Part-Time Ceramics Lab Tech/Instructor Hearst Center for the Arts
The Hearst Center is seeking a year-round, part-time Ceramics Lab Technician/Instructor. Position will include up to 29 hours/week with primarily late afternoon, evening, and weekend hours required. The position pays $16 per hour and is eligible for annual increases.
Duties include maintaining a clean and organized workspace in the lab, creating a kiln firing schedule to coincide with ceramics classes (cleaning, loading and unloading the kiln), mixing glazes, processing clay (wedging and creating slabs, recycling reclaimed clay after classes), corresponding with students on ceramics projects, enforcing lab rules for participants, teaching teen and adult wheel classes, along with performing other tasks as assigned.
Ceramics knowledge and experience must include hand building, wheel throwing, glaze properties, and electric kiln operation. Strong customer service and organizational skills and attention to detail required. Successful completion of a post-offer background, pre-employment physical, and drug screen are required for the selected candidate.
