Job Description – Accounting Manager
Reports to: General Manager
The Francisca Club is a private club located in downtown San Francisco.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary responsibility of this position is to accurately maintain the accounting records of the club by managing member billings, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash flow, preparing account reconciliations, generating and analyzing financial reports and budgets. The accounting manager executes and oversees all accounting functions for the Club.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Accounts Receivable: responsible for member billings, including: posting daily charges to member accounts, dues, private parties and other charges on a monthly basis.
· Accounts Payable: responsible for the vendor billing cycle – code invoices, manage budgetary controls, implement a purchase order system.
· Payroll – manage payroll controls, maintain employee database, complete wage reports for compliance with insurance policies, manage employee benefits and track vacation and sick time.
· Inventory: manage inventory controls on a monthly basis.
· Perform accounting reconciliations and maintain all accounting records.
· Prepare monthly trial balance and resulting financial statements for the.
· Prepare budgets in coordination with the Finance committee and GM. Monitor budgeted versus actual expenditures and advise management about variances.
· Must be proficient in QuickBooks applications for accounts payable and payroll. Proficiency with private club applications is a plus.
· Works with the Club’s external auditors to support the annual audit or review of financial statements.
· Manage the Club’s hardware and software maintenance and development with a third-party IT support specialist and within budgeted guidelines.
· Direct, participate in, and verify the taking of various inventories for food, beverages, supplies, equipment, furnishings, etc. Monitor to ensure that procedures for effective receiving and storeroom controls are in place and consistently used.
· Verify that all insurance records for Club property are maintained. Manage claims with the third-party broker.
· Follow all standards required by all applicable federal, state, and/or other laws and regulations. Prepare and supervise the preparation of applicable federal, state, and local tax returns.
· Prepare accounting reports as necessary and appropriate for dissemination to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Executive Committee, and other committees as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field and work experience that provides finance knowledge and abilities.
· A CPA would be viewed as a plus, but not required.
· Prior experience in a similar position at a private club or within a similar hospitality environment, resort, restaurant, or hotel is a plus.
· 5+ years of accounting experience in balance sheet reconciliation, accruals, G/L accounts, journal entries, variance analysis, preparing monthly financial reports, budgeting, bank reconciliations, preparing tax returns, annual audit preparation, forecasting, payroll, AR/AP, cash flow, policy, and process development.
· Solid knowledge of GAAP.
· Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
· Impeccable and verifiable references. All candidates will be subject to a background check.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
· Competitive compensation/salary and an annual performance bonus.
· Salary range is approximately $85,000 to $95,000 per year, based on experience.

CLUB HISTORY
The Francisca Club, established in 1903, was founded by an enterprising group of ladies, not confined by convention, who enjoyed a good party. The Club was incorporated on April 4, 1910, and is one of the oldest private social clubs in San Francisco. It has survived and flourished through its first hundred plus years, adapting to the changing times, the 1906 Earthquake and Fire, World War I, the Great Depression, World War II and the Loma Prieta Earthquake.
