Job Description:
Position Overview: The Buyer Planner will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials and supplies necessary for production and daily operations. This role requires a proactive individual who can balance cost management with ensuring timely availability of materials, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting the production schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Management:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with existing suppliers.
- Place purchase orders for raw materials, components, and other necessary supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage reorder points to ensure adequate supply without overstocking.
- Planning and Scheduling:
- Work closely with the production team to understand material requirements and ensure timely availability of materials.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring alignment with customer demands and production capacity.
- Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand, supplier delays, or other disruptions.
- Cost Control:
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to optimize costs.
- Monitor and analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement and track cost-saving initiatives and report on their effectiveness.
- Vendor Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery and quality of materials.
- Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
- Conduct regular reviews and assessments of supplier capabilities and performance.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with the production, finance, and sales teams to ensure alignment of procurement and production activities.
- Support new product development by sourcing materials and components as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement process.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain management, preferably within the medical device industry or a regulated industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to forecast demand, analyze inventory levels, and plan purchases effectively.
- Proficiency in using MRP software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
