The Downs Racetrack and Casino is seeking a Cage Cashier to join our team! The Cage Cashier earns an hourly rate plus tips! This position will be required to work weekends, holidays and evenings/nights.
The Cage Cashier is responsible for distributing money to gaming guests via check cashing, conversion of coins, tickets, into currency. Protecting company assets while dealing with the public in an efficient and courteous manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safeguards company assets and adheres to all Cage policies and procedures.
- Maintains and is held accountable for all funds entrusted to him/her on an assigned shift.
- Provides prompt, friendly and courteous service to all guests in a confidential manner.
- Creates teamwork by helping co-workers with essential functions.
- Balances all money transactions and paperwork.
- Meets all attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Acts as a role model; presenting oneself as a credit to The Downs and encouraging others to do the same.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience in handling large sums of money is preferred. A proven proficiency with computers and ten (10) key adding machines with some knowledge of computer keyboard are preferred. Must be able to enter data, read and interpret output from computer. Must have excellent guest and human relations skills. Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift. Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team. Must be willing to learn all phases of cage activity. Must present a well-groomed appearance.
Age Requirement:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
