Job Description – Seafood Quality Assurance Associate
The Seafood Quality Assurance Associate is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing shipments, adhering to strict quality control protocols, and maintaining accurate documentation. Additionally, you will take high-quality photographs to document the condition of the product at various stages.
The Seafood Quality Assurance Associate must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections of incoming and outgoing seafood shipments to assess freshness, quality, temperature, and proper packaging.
- Verify product labeling and ensure it meets all regulatory requirements.
- Utilize calibrated thermometers to measure product temperature and document findings.
- Maintain clear and concise records of all inspections, including photographs.
- Take high-quality digital photographs of inbound and outbound product, capturing details such as condition, labeling, and packaging.
- Report any discrepancies or quality concerns to the Quality Control Supervisor promptly.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Assist with maintaining and updating quality control procedures.
- May be required to perform light lifting and stocking tasks.
- Notify management about actual or potential food safety issues.
- Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor and Operations Management.
- Understand and comply with all applicable company policies, safety policies and food safety principles.
- Comply with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA, HACCP, etc).
- Attend all required company meetings.
Qualifications
- Education/Training
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety requirements.
- Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Prior experience in a quality control role, food service, or a related field is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safe food handling practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of digital photography preferred.

- Required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, balance, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move between 41 and 50 pounds, and seldom lift and/or move 51 pounds and up to 100 pounds.
- Frequently bend and twist while operating a pallet jack or other powered industrial equipment.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- This is a full-time position. Must be able to work the assigned schedule and overtime as needed. Work hours may vary, or change based on departmental requirements.
- Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must successfully pass a controlled substance screening test.
- Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.
- Able to work rapidly at a constant pace for the entire shift, in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop a working knowledge of the product.
Hourly Rate: $18/hr.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Seafood Quality Assurance Associate will constantly work near fast-moving powered industrial equipment and experience exposure to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working on concrete flooring. Duties will require frequently working in varying climates. Temperatures range from below zero in the freezers to 95F degrees or above outdoors.
