Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Obtain blood samples and prepare them for analysis and distribution; instruct patients in appropriate specimen collection procedures; Collect MRSA Pre-Op swabs.

Determine appropriate tubes, sample types, and collection timing for the various laboratory tests.

Responsible for receiving specimens from in-house and off-site clinics/agencies and determine their acceptability for testing. Navigate and research orders in
eClinical Works, edit orders, and transmit orders to McKesson efficiently and accurately.

Accurate and timely accessioning of patient and testing information into the laboratory information system (LIS) and initial troubleshooting of problems.

Accurately identify and screen all Medicare orders for Medical Necessity utilizing McKesson – Pathways Compliance Advisor (PCA); review ABN status with patients or clinics, and obtain appropriate signatures when indicated.

Responsible for the general cleanliness and appearance of the phlebotomy area of the laboratory. Tasks involve organizing or removing clutter and related duties.

General knowledge of laboratory tests, TAT, special requirements and availability of reference laboratory testing

Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses preferred: At least one year post high school training in health related field.
Maximum Degree requirements and Experience required: ASCP, Registered Phlebotomist Technician.
Machine, Tools and Equipment: Basic computer skills. Be familiar with Excel and Word.
