Detroit, MI – JOB DESCRIPTION (EXPERIENCE)
A successful candidate will have the passion to work in the Broadcast Television industry. Should be familiar with technologies such as: Master Control/Studio Control Room automation systems, handheld/robotic camera operation, audio/video recording systems, audio/video editing systems, live audio/video production, video/audio over IP technologies, Electronic News Gathering (ENG) workflows, satellite/microwave receive systems, multi camera studio/field technical operations, audio/video switching/routing systems, Windows/Linux/OSX operating systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES (REQUIREMENTS)
Required:
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot technical equipment.
- Proficient in working with audio, video & Ethernet cable.
- Knowledge of various broadcast & IT technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and signal flow charts.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills to identify and resolve operation issues promptly.
- Ability to follow and enforce safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to interact with Maintenance Engineers to report technical issues clearly.
- Capacity to adapt to new technologies and operation workflows.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, discrepancies & technical reports.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Ability to interact with other department managers and teams in a professional and customer service orientated manner.
- Be part of a team that operates 24/7/365, working weekends & holidays.
- Willingness to work various shift hours that includes early morning and late-night shifts.
- Prepared to work outside the station, in and around the Detroit area, during live remote productions.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy equipment, working from heights and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License with clean driving record.
Preferred:
- Experience working at a Television Station that produces local News.
- Formal training in Broadcast, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
- SBE Certification or related Military training.
