Summary: The Nurse Supervisor reports to the Director of Nursing. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising and evaluating personnel to insure the provision of quality care in accordance with the policies and procedures of the nursing department. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for all resident care on the night shift.
Qualifications:
- Registered professional nurse (RN) currently licensed in the State of Georgia preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in geriatrics preferred.
- Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all the residents in a safe, secure environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of Jewish Home Life Communities.
- Supports and cooperates with specific procedures and programs for:
- Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, risk management, and security, reports and/or corrects unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
- Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.
- Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
- Uses factual, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
- Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests
- Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
- Evaluates, plans and organizes nursing care according to established policies and procedures.
- Insures that all physicians? orders are carried out.
- Supervises all nursing activities and promotes improvement in nursing care.
- Participates in direct nursing care as needed to meet emergency situations.
- Coordinates nursing services with other departments and the total program of The Jewish Home.
- Maintains accurate reporting and recording in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth, and evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Maintains comfortable and pleasant environment in cooperation with other departments as involved.
- Insures that supplies are available in proper quantities and that equipment is available in good working order, and that personnel using such supplies and equipment know where such are to be found.
- Maintains security of the building insuring safety of residents and staff.
- Handles all incoming telephone calls.
- Receives report from outgoing shift supervisor and gives report at close of shift to oncoming shift supervisor.
- Makes complete rounds of all areas at the beginning of the shift, at the close of the shift, and as needed in the interim.
- Checks all ill residents and supervises their care.
- Makes calls to physicians, administration and families, gives out information concerning residents as required.
- Responsible for the direct handling of any emergency situation which may arise and notification of any unusual happenings.
- Notifies administrator when a death occurs.
- Accompanies physicians who make resident visits on the shift
- Stimulates interest and attitudes in personnel to develop understanding of residents
- Provides guidance to personnel as needed; evaluates performance, progress and needs for improvement, and prepares evaluations or performance as directed.
- Plans with other shift supervisors and nursing office to interpret policies, physicians? orders, continuity of care to all nursing personnel.
- Assists with time schedules for shift personnel and arranges for changes in schedule and for calling in extra personnel when needed. Insures that arrangements are made to cover absences on the succeeding shift when notified of such impending absences
- Maintains record of attendance, noting illness or other absence per protocol.
- Insures that personnel on shift are familiar with fire drill, fire regulations and procedures
- Disciplines staff per nursing department policy of The Jewish Home.
- Attends all federally mandated staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibility.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds; ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements: Ability to focus for extensive period of time on computer work and interaction with residents, team members and families.

Pay: Up to $50.00 per hour
