Overview
Assisting in the engineering design and development of a new greenfield gas-to-liquids facility. The individual will support the engineering team from FEED/FEL 3 stage to detailed engineering and act as the client representative.
This is a part-time position at 30% utilization per month with an expected 24-month term.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Support the owner’s engineering team in the development of a greenfield gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility.
- Interface with the Engineering contractor(s), licensors, and vendors, while representing Cerilon on the project.
- Owner’s representative in design reviews and verification of action items/recommendation closure.
- Participate in projects with oversight of the Engineering Contractor to ensure the effective application of process safety management principles regarding plant design and operation.
- Participate in risk analysis for a variety of operational and project challenges, including systematically assessing site risk exposures utilizing established risk analysis methods, conducting follow-up of open actions, and ensuring actions are closed out and documented.
- Review quantitative risk assessment calculations for different risk assessment studies required for the site.
- Promote the implementation of initiatives related to process safety management, loss prevention, and plant hygiene based on legislative requirements, company initiatives, and insurance recommendations.
- Review and provide guidance on the selection and location of fire and gas detection systems and other fire prevention principles/design.
- Review and provide guidance on egress and evacuation layout and design, including worker-in-danger activation systems.
- Review and provide guidance on the requirements for community emergency response coordination.
- Review and provide guidance on the layout and design of shelter-in-place buildings/locations.
- Review and provide guidance in defining & evaluating fire, radiation, and blast zones including the flare system.
- Review of relevant engineering contractor’s and licensors’ documents, drawings and specifications, during FEED and detailed engineering phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or higher in an engineering discipline, (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering).
- Professional Engineering license (P. Eng., P.E.), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status is desirable.
- Process/Technical Safety professional with a minimum of 10 year’s experience in high hazard industries.
- Experience in FEED and detail engineering projects is required.
- Technical competence in risk identification, risk assessment and risk management methodologies.
- Demonstrated strong skills in one or more of the following: Integrating process safety within the design process and/or operating practices; PHA reviews (HAZID, CHAZOP, HAZOP, LOPA, SILA, etc.); Consequence and frequency analyses; Fault / Event Tree Analysis; Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA); Authoring Safety Cases, including ALARP demonstrations; Bow Tie Analysis
- Knowledgeable in relevant codes for the USA and in Canada.
