The Exercise Specialist is responsible for the direct and indirect care of their patient assignment and working collaboratively with assigned staff. Implement exercise programs according to the plan of treatment, instruct individuals and groups in exercise activities using appropriate techniques and promote and maintain a safe environment. Educate and counsel patients, the community and hospital employees regarding exercise programs and healthy lifestyles. Develop and modify exercise prescriptions, lead and demonstrate exercise and equipment, and supervise participants in the exercise classes.
What you will do in this role:

Evaluate new and current participants in regard to their current health status.

Prescribe appropriate exercise programs, maintain these programs for the participant, and make necessary adjustments to the prescription based on physiologic data, participants’ goals and physician directions.

Provide participant education specific to exercise benefit and fitness programs.

Monitor patients on EKG monitor during their exercise sessions, utilize telemetry monitoring system per policy and procedures, and recognize and interpret arrhythmias.

Take blood pressure and heart rate before, during and after exercise.

Prescribe home exercise programs according to their knowledge of fitness, participant goals, physiologic data and physician recommendation.

Perform fitness assessments and reassessments. Interpret results for participants and assist them in setting realistic goals.

Orient new fitness center members and evaluate members’ exercise programs including equipment use and safety.

Monitor and supervise exercise sessions. Teach exercises in individual and group settings.

Assist with maintenance and cleaning of exercise equipment, scheduling, billing, mailing, customer service and other office tasks as

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
