Job Title: Remote Paralegal Legal Assistant (California Workers' Compensation)

Job Description: As a Remote Paralegal/Legal Assistant specializing in California Workers' Compensation Defense, you will play a vital role in supporting our legal team in all aspects of case management and client representation. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Case Management: Assist attorneys in managing a caseload of workers' compensation claims from inception to resolution.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research using various resources to support case strategies and legal arguments.
- Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, petitions, and correspondence.
- Client Communication: Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, PQMEs, and other relevant parties to gather information and provide updates on case progress.
- Discovery and Evidence Management: Assist in organizing and managing discovery materials, including medical records, deposition transcripts, and other evidentiary documents.
- Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings and trials, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative tasks, such as maintaining case files, calendaring deadlines, and scheduling appointments.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant in a law firm setting, preferably with a focus on California workers' compensation.
- Proficiency in California workers' compensation laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with clients and other parties.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while also collaborating effectively with a virtual team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MerusCase
- Familiarity with electronic filing systems, such as EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System).
