Congregation Emanu-El Preschool is hiring an experienced early childhood educator for this summer (now - August)!
We are looking for excellent teachers to join our summer team, positions range 20-40 hours per week. Flexible schedule available - work one week or all of camp!
Our preschool exemplifies contemporary best practices in the field of Early Childhood Education and strives to be a program where teachers, children, parents, and families experience transformative learning, and where other educators come to learn. We use an emergent inquiry-based, emergent approach to learning where teachers and children co-construct curriculum that is grounded in Jewish culture and traditions while interweaving developmentally appropriate curriculum in the areas of: math, science, arts, music, social-emotional development, gross and fine motor skills as well as language and literacy. Teacher research and pedagogical documentation are central to our work as are responsive and reflective teaching practices.
Classroom Lead Teacher Responsibilities:
- Maintain and implement procedures compliant with California Community Care Licensing standards to ensure the health and safety of the children insuring they are under supervision at all times.
- In partnership with co-teacher and support from the Pedagogical Coordinator, develop and implement inquiry-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum for the classroom.
- Regularly communicate (in writing and verbally) with parents and caregivers regarding student progress, notable behaviors, milestones, and information pertaining to the child’s time at school.
- In partnership with co-teacher, keep records on each child and the classroom as a whole documenting developmental growth, observational data, and curricular updates home.
- Work collaboratively with specialists and the administrative team to provide enrichment programming to students, including documenting student engagement, implementing differentiation strategies in the classroom, and establishing specific support plans, as needed.
- Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
- Create and work towards mutually agreed upon goals of an annual professional growth plan set with supervisor.
- Attend all staff meetings and be accountable for all information disbursed at such meetings and in written format.
- Participate in recommended professional development programs and in-service workshops and other opportunities for professional growth.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional, and effective communication and supportive ties with children, staff, parents, and third party consultants to meet the individual needs of children and their families which establish a partnership between school and home for the child.
- Understand, and articulate the philosophy of the school.
- Assist in public relations and community building events sponsored by the school.
- Act as a model for aides and assistant teachers and mentor their training and development. Give clear directions and feedback to assistants regularly.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with fellow staff members, School Director, assistant director and other staff within the temple; work in cooperation and with respect for fellow staff members.
- Maintain professional standards and conduct and positive work ethic.
- Respect confidentiality of school-related information.
- Perform other duties, as requested by supervisor.
- Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 60lbs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A degree in ECE, Child Development, or a related field
- Teaching and classroom experience

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
