Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Head Dental Biller to join our team. As the Head Dental Biller, you will be responsible for overseeing the billing operations of two locations( Union City Oral Surgery Group and Elizabeth Oral Surgery Group.) We are looking for a knowledgeable leader who we can build a team around.
You will ensure accurate and timely submission of claims, manage insurance verifications and authorizations, handle patient billing inquiries, and coordinate with insurance companies to resolve any issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dental billing procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a team effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the billing process for all dental services provided by the practice.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of insurance claims, including electronic and paper claims.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to treatment.
- Obtain necessary authorizations and referrals for procedures requiring pre-approval.
- Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) from insurance companies to resolve claim denials and discrepancies.
- Coordinate with insurance companies and patients to address billing inquiries and disputes.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dental billing codes, regulations, and industry trends.
- Train and supervise billing staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Implement billing best practices and workflow improvements to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as front desk and clinical staff, to streamline billing processes and improve overall patient experience.
- Generate reports and analyze billing data to track key performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about changes in insurance policies, billing regulations, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Assist with audits and compliance reviews as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in dental billing or healthcare revenue cycle management, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proficiency in dental billing software and electronic claims submission platforms.
- Strong understanding of dental insurance plans, including PPOs, DHMOs, and Medicaid.
- Knowledge of CDT (Current Dental Terminology) codes and experience with dental coding.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing and motivating a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification a plus.
