Overview:
The Assistant Professor is a respected member of the University faculty and has begun to serve as a mentor to colleagues and students. Appointment as Assistant Professor signifies demonstrated competence as an educator with a promise of excellence, competence in professional service, and evidence of promise in scholarship.
As a Masters prepared Professor, the faculty member would be expected to develop, design and deliver instruction in Physician Assistant courses, participate in student advising and mentoring. Engages in the academic roles of teaching, service, scholarship and research. Reviews and assists with revisions as needed for department policies and procedures. Identifies and recommends to department chair appropriate community agency linkages for student learning experiences. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Responsibilities:
· Teaches in the didactic and clinical phases of the Masters of Science Physician Assistant Program - MSPAS curriculum.
· Participates in scholarship and service activities as indicated in university and department policies.
· Participates in the development and implementation of new instructional experiences.
· Participates in all aspects of ongoing program assessment and complies with Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Standards.
· Develops individualized learning objectives.
· Recruits qualified applicants.
· Develops competencies required for the successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (“PANCE”) examination.
· Grades examinations and assignments and reviews evaluations with students.
· Reviews and assists with revisions as needed for department policies and procedures.
· Serves as a faculty advisor to PA Students as determined by the program director, serves as a small-group facilitator and participates in a formal faculty development process.
· Helps develop, implement and evaluate MSPAS entry level curriculum as needed.
· Continues to develop as a faculty member of the college through advanced studies, research, and writing and attends a PAEA or PANDO workshop for faculty development.
Experience:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and ability to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems such as Blackboard
- Solid understanding of human physiology and anatomy; knowledge of animal physiology is a plus
- Experience in veterinary critical care or as a nurse is highly desirable
- Ability to review documentation and conduct research for clinical trials or curriculum development
Requirements:
Three years of clinical experience.
· Master's degree from a Physician Assistant Program or related higher education field.
· At least one peer reviewed publication while as Instructor. Acceptable publications, such as journal articles, books, and book chapters, shall be published in periodicals or venues recognized by the appropriate academic or professional organizations at the national level and/or professional accrediting associations.
· Experience teaching at the graduate level
· Must be eligible for Florida state licensure as a physician assistant

Pay: $93,400.00 - $112,060.00 per year
