Job Summary: A research technician position is available in the laboratory led by Elmira Jalilian, PhD in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Research in the lab will focus on understanding the mechanisms regulating corneal nerve regeneration, and homeostasis in physiological and pathological condition. Mechanistically understanding of cell behavior will lead to development of therapeutic innervation for ocular surface diseases.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field. Candidate must be eager and willing to learn new laboratory techniques.
Duties:
· Maintain mouse colony (experience in animal laboratory procedures).
· Perform molecular biology (qPCR & PCR) and histology experiments
· Assist in cell culture in 2D and 3D
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
· Maintain meticulous records of all experimental protocols and results to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
