Location: North Country Freedom Homes, Canton, NY
Position: Full-time Residential Aide
Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday / 3:00p-11:00p
Pay Range: $15.50/hour to $22.00/hour
Position Summary: The incumbent of this position will perform duties under the supervision of the senior shift personnel, Clinical Supervisor, or designee. This position involves carrying out the clinical schedule while monitoring and supervising the flow of patient activities in a therapeutic milieu. Responsibilities for this position vary, but all are related to assisting supervisors and clinical staff.
Additionally, the incumbent of this position may be required to work extended hours in order to carry out desired clinical goals and objectives. They should be able to develop a positive rapport with patients and work in harmony with the clinical team's directives. In this fashion, the incumbent will gain knowledge and experience in the chemical dependency treatment field.
Education And Training: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Services or Social Services or associate degree, preferably in Human Services or Social Services and one-year related experience; or satisfactory completion as a Clinical Aide for a minimum of one year; or five years of direct experience dealing with chemical dependency.
Physical Demands: No extraordinary physical demands required.
Experience and Work Knowledge:

- Ability to assist patients in examining, understanding, and dealing with their prejudices
- Ability to recognize those tasks and functions that arise within drug treatment programs for which the counselor must be personally responsible or ensure that other program personnel assume responsibility
- Maintain at least a satisfactory performance evaluation
Essential Duties:
- Maintain a safe and secure unit at all times by monitoring patient behavior and making decision in direct relationship to desired goal.
- Transport patients to and from self-help meetings and/or scheduled therapeutic activities.
- May involve co-facilitating/facilitating therapy groups, e.g., educational group counseling.
- Assist patients in goals described in treatment plan under direct orders of Primary Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, or designee.
- Observe, evaluate, and synthesize interaction of patients during activities while properly documenting all appropriate data.
- Participates in Treatment Team.
- Chart as required per shift in an objective, factual manner.
- Supervise the patients during entire shift in a direct/indirect manner and to report observations to team leaders.
- Supervise the breaks and meals of patients during shift.
- If necessary, participate in recreational activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
