POSITION SUMMARY
The Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader will lead a team of Grounds Maintenance Associates in the daily work of maintaining various areas of the military installation grounds in accordance with specifications set forth in the related contract. Support the organization in its mission to help change lives through the power of work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work alongside Grounds Maintenance Associate crewmembers to provide guidance, training, assistance, and to enhance productivity and quality.

Transport crews to job sites; assign work; explain procedures and expectations; and adjust work schedules as needed to meet contract requirements.

Train crew members in correct grounds-keeping methods and associated equipment use, such as weed-eaters, leaf-blowers, lawn-mowers, trimmer/edger, push mowers, riding mowers, etc.

Ensure crewmembers are supplied with the proper equipment and supplies to accomplish the job.

Report problems with assignments and/or crewmember performance/behavior to Project Manager.

Ensure adherence to all Federal, state, OSHA, and agency safety requirements and attend all scheduled safety training.

Report work-related injuries and accidents timely and complete required paperwork.

Perform daily vehicle inspection and related paperwork.

Assist managers in conducting performance appraisals by providing input.

Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
REQUIREMENTS

Education Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Associate’s degree

Experience Minimum: 5 years of experience in grounds-keeping/landscaping maintenance.
- 3+ years’ experience operating small and large engine equipment such as push mowers, riding mowers, tractors, power pruners, chainsaws, etc.

Preferred: 3+ years of experience in grounds-keeping/landscaping maintenance. Experience supervising and/or training other workers. Safety training and experience with government contracts OR equivalent combination of education, experience and/or military training.
- Skills: Good communication & customer service skills, operation of small and large landscaping related equipment, training and coaching skills. Analyze, evaluate situations, and develop alternatives for conflict resolution.

Knowledge: Safety requirements, General grounds keeping/landscaping knowledge Equipment maintenance. Working with people with disabilities
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
