Position Overview: The Volunteer Manager-Fresh Market plays a crucial role in our nonprofit food bank by overseeing the recruitment, training, and engagement of volunteers specifically focused on our Fresh Market operations. This individual ensures the seamless coordination of volunteers to enhance the efficiency and impact of our food distribution programs..
The volunteer manager reports to the Assistant Director, Volunteer Engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding:
- · Develop and implement strategies to attract and recruit volunteers for Fresh Market activities.
- · Conduct orientation sessions and provide on-the-job training for new volunteers.
- · Maintain a comprehensive database of volunteer skills, availability, and preferences.
Volunteer Engagement and Retention:
- · Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer community through regular communication and recognition programs.
- · Address volunteer concerns, provide feedback, and implement strategies to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- · Organize periodic events and activities to strengthen volunteer morale and commitment.
Fresh Market Operations Support:
- · Collaborate with Fresh Market staff to understand operational needs and align volunteer efforts accordingly.
- · Schedule and coordinate volunteers for efficient and effective Fresh Market activities.
- · Monitor and evaluate volunteer performance, providing constructive feedback and recognition.
Data Management and Reporting:
- · Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and impact metrics.
- · Generate regular reports on volunteer engagement and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
- · Analyze data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Education, Licensing, and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Experience in volunteer management or related roles may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The hours of this position directly correlate with the open hours of our Fresh Market pantry and are designed to best accommodate the needs of our clients and neighbors:
- Sunday: Off
- Monday: Off
- Tuesday: 10 am – 7 pm
- Wednesday: 10 am – 7 pm
- Thursday: 10 am – 7 pm
- Friday: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
- Saturday: 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
Summer Hours:
- Sunday: Off
- Monday: Off
- Tuesday: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
- Wednesday: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
- Thursday: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
- Friday: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
- Saturday: 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
Physical Demands
This work is located in an office and warehouse environment. Physical activities necessary in the performance of this job include ability to: Sit at a computer workstation for up to 2 hours at a time, move throughout the 30,000 square foot warehouse and other food bank facilities in performance of duties, regularly bend, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; conduct tours throughout our facilities on a regular basis; communicate in clear speaking voice in person, before large groups and over the phone; interpret instructions and questions when asked; and operate computer equipment, including typing/seeing.
