Metropolitan Companies is looking for a Project Manager/Estimator to join our team! The Project Manager/Estimator is responsible for estimating site work for construction projects. This position will report to the VP of Development. Responsibilities:
- Prepare estimates for bidding projects, including detailed breakdowns of labor, materials, subcontractor, and equipment costs.
- Utilize estimating software to prepare detailed estimates for construction projects.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings, prepares lists of bid items and quantities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and meet with owner to determine scope of work.
- Recommend vendors and subcontractors for the project and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive bids.
- Interface with owner, architect/engineer, and subcontractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
- Perform or coordinate quantity takeoff, assemble direct cost estimate and analyze alternate construction methods to determine cost effectiveness.
- Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, value engineering or availability of materials.
- Monitor and track project costs and schedules throughout construction process.
- Analyze and incorporate delay free systems into the preparation of the work plan of estimates/bids.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment.
- Must have technical proficiency and knowledge in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 year of construction experience in estimating, operations and/or engineering required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to deliver bids, attend pre-bid meetings, visit job sites.
- Property management or multifamily construction experience a plus.
