Job Title: Environmental Attendant

Overview: The Environmental Services Attendant may work in any location of Prevost Memorial Hospital. This individual cleans and keeps in an orderly condition facilities or locations in the areas of all commercial, health care, and other establishments associated with Prevost Memorial Hospital. The general responsibilities of this position include those listed below, by management from Vice President of Operations may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among areas and/ or units within Prevost Memorial Hospital, depending on business and patient care necessities, organizational requirements and applicable recommendations from regulatory agencies. The Environmental Services Attendant must be able and willing to work flexible hours. Finally, the Environmental Services Attendant should help to administer and coordinate programs within the framework of the established policies, performs tasks in a safe manner and in accordance with the safety and health programs, assists in training and maintenance of a safe workplace for all staff within Prevost Memorial Hospital.
Responsibilities:
1. Cleans patient/exam rooms, common areas, offices, lavatories, halls food service areas, and physician areas.
2. Sweeps, mops, clean hallways, stairs and office spaces using 7 cleaning steps.
1. Pulls Trash/ Linen from area, High dusts all horizontal surfaces in areas, Damp wipes/ spot cleans walls/ and checks while replenishing all dispensers in area,
2. Cleans bathrooms, Dust mops the entire area, Damp mops the entire area, Inspects area for completion of all assignments.
3. Cleans light fixtures, ceilings and vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows and windows coverings.
4. Properly and safely uses cleaning chemicals per manufacturer and Prevost Memorial Environmental Services department with direction from Infection Control department.
5. Empties trash, garbage containers and bio-hazardous containers (3/4 full)
6. Replenishes all supplies throughout the organization.
7. May change linens and replenish linens for all discharge patient rooms/ exam areas while completing terminal cleaning after discharge.
8. Completion of 7 step cleaning within following areas: >Patient Care Rooms/Exam Areas and Areas (including Nourishment Stations, Nurses Stations, Clean and Soiled Utility Rooms, Medicine Rooms, and Supply Closets), Central Sterile, Decontamination, Special Procedure, and Locker Rooms)
9. Laboratory, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, Respiratory Areas, and all ancillary areas are to be cleaned daily.
10. Notifies Vice President of Operations concerning need for major or minor repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
11. Records work completed on Area Assignment Checklist daily and return to Vice President of Operations daily.
12. Cleans Daily the following: Sink (inside & outside), Toilet (inside & outside) Mirror, Tub/Shower (inside & outside) All edges under and over 6 Ft. Walls/ Water pipes/ Wastebaskets (inside & outside) Door & Door frames Baseboards & Corners/ edges Desks & counter tops- including (telephones, furniture, cabinets, over bed tables, TV controls, bed-side table, cubicle curtains)
13. Dust Mop/ Damp Mop or vacuum carpeted areas.
14. Polices assigned areas at the beginning of each shift, respond to housekeeping pages, and perform other tasks as assigned by Vice President of Operations
15. Responds to all Fire and Codes for the organization and complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
16. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner, with detailed documentation.
17. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
18. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
19. Collaboratively work with maintenance, to ensure grounds are always kept safe.

Requirements:
- High School or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility/rural cleaning and disinfecting, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to healthcare facilities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively work within a team and collaborate with others.

- Preferred Qualifications:
- Rural Healthcare janitorial experience
- Experience working in a rural healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare-specific regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, TJC).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a healthcare facility setting, with exposure to various environmental factors such as noise, dust, and chemicals.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for emergencies or special projects.
