Apple Ridge Farm is continuing to grow and expand to new Farmers' Markets! In order to make sure we can continue to provide great service to our shoppers and increase our sales, we are looking for a few reliable, outgoing, and energetic salespeople to join our talented Farmers’ Market team. You would meet up at the farm, (depending on the market you go to, you may meet up with another market employee), take a van to your market location and help setup our stand. Once the market begins you would assist with selling our breads, baked goods, eggs, and other value-added farm products for 3-4 hours before packing up and heading home.
This is a great part time job for someone looking to make a little extra cash on the weekend and the Farmers’ Markets are a great place to be on a Saturday or Sunday morning!
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills with a proven track record of retail sales experience
- Proficiency in operating a cash register and handling basic math calculations
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, with additional languages such as Spanish considered a plus
- Experience in product demonstrations and upselling techniques
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently
- Prior experience in technology sales or electronics sales is preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment
Pay and training
We will hire our Farmers' Market staff members at a range of $13-$15 per hour depending on experience. After the initial probation period (4 shifts worked with no call outs), and evaluation from Farmers' Market Leaders, new staff members will increase to $14.
Our seasoned staff of Farmers' Market Leaders will help train and nurture new team members to make sure that they are learning, growing and reaching benchmarks with the goal to have everyone at $15/hr. New hires will progress as fast as they want to - some may have the product knowledge down and skills acquired in a short time and will quickly jump up the pay scale - others may take all season. It's completely up to each individual person.
Incentive bonuses
We will have an incentive structure based on year-over-year sales at each market. You will earn a % of the difference/increase in sales at your market.

The season length/commitment
Our season runs from May-November and we are looking for people who can commit to the full season with us.

We are looking for people that want to work either Saturday, or Sunday or both. Our staff members who work two weekend days get preferential choice for days off. We know that our season runs during the summer and that people want to take vacation. We expect that everyone will take up to 4 days off during the main season: to work a minimum of 85% of your regularly scheduled shifts. Our team rotates and works together to cover each other's days off so we need to be respectful of one another's time so everyone has a chance for some off time.
- No matter what the weather - we show up. The customers that come to a Farmers' Market in the rain are our die hard customers and if we don't show up for them, they won't show up for us. We are always there unless the market itself closes.
- No call/no shows will be immediately released from employment.
Our working principles
- We work quickly and efficiently. We manage our lines so we don't keep our shoppers waiting for longer than they need to.
- We mention items by name to try to introduce shoppers to new products that aren't as visible (our cooler items)
- We take pride in doing a good job, and having a beautiful display. We take the time to put up our signs and display our products well.
- We don't do anything half way. When there is a job to be done, we do it 100%. We will not leave something undone to make it someone else's problem later.
