Junior Specialist – Hellman lab
The Hellman lab at University of California, San Francisco is looking for a Junior Specialist to perform research on the physiological and immunological effects of the endocannabinoid and endovanilloid systems, on neuroimmune regulation, and on the vascular endothelium in sepsis and injury. Responsibilities include mouse colony management, including genotyping and oversight of transgenic mouse colony breeding/husbandry/inventory, helping design then performing molecular and cellular experiments with supervision.
Job duties for this position:
1) Perform and assist with experiments using mouse models of acute inflammation, infection, and injury.
2) Perform tissue culture, ELISA, PCR, quantitative RT PCR, Western Blotting.
3) Manage mouse colonies, including genotyping, husbandry, and colony organization. 4) Organize data and keeping detailed records: experience preparing laboratory solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree or equivalent, in a biological or related science by the time of hire.
- Experience with the basic techniques or methods required by the position (pipetting, preparation of solutions, performing dilutions, basic data entry (Excel), immunologic methods (e.g., antibody staining, fluorescent microscopy)).
- Applicants’ materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing quantitative RT PCR Tissue culture experience.
