Position Overview:
Dover Hydraulics, a leading provider of hydraulic systems and components, is seeking a skilled and motivated Machinist to join our dynamic team in Dover, OH. The Machinist will primarily be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments for our hydraulic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate conventional and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate parts according to specifications and tolerances.
- Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan the sequence of operations required to machine components.
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials for each job, ensuring optimum performance and efficiency.
- Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for proper functioning, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and dial indicators.
- Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for accurate machining.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot production problems and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and production staff, to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects.
- Document and maintain records of completed work orders and job details, including machine maintenance and tooling requirements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining preferred.
- Proven experience as a Machinist or similar role, preferably in the hydraulic systems industry.
- Proficiency in operating conventional and CNC machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
- Strong knowledge of different materials, tools, and machining techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Extensive experience with precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production issues.
- Detail-oriented with good manual dexterity and ability to work with precision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Safety conscious with a commitment to maintaining a clean and tidy work environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
