QAFS Verification Technician
Summary/Objective
This is a Mid-Level position designed to develop the technical knowledge and skills necessary to transition to QA/FS supervisory role or potentially into New Product Development (NPD) / Lab oriented Role.
Responsible for developing and auditing/ verifying SOPs in New Flour Line Operation area. Along with maintaining, auditing, and executing all aspects of Quality and Food Safety Management Systems (QFSMS) for the New Flour Line Operation. This includes training employees in their role in QFSMS and verification that all aspects are being met. Leads day to day QAFS operations and activities and enforces GMP, Quality and Food Safety standards in the plant. Directs, completes, and maintains records of all inspections, testing, audits, product release, and traceability. Assists the QAFS Manager in preparation and/or completion of 3rd party audits. Coordinates with on-site QA laboratory on testing needs.
Key Responsibilities
· Incoming raw ingredient inspections
· Monthly Quality and GMP inspections
· Incoming label inspections
· Glass and brittle plastic inspections
· Audit prep inspections and walkthroughs.
· Enforcing adherence to GMPs
· Tracebacks and Mock Recalls
· Food Defense Program management
· Allergen Program management
· Crisis/Business Continuity Management
· HACCP/HARPC verification, maintenance, and review
· Product return inspections
· Assist QFS Techs and/or Production Dept. as needed.
- Data entry, organization, and systemization of product and ingredient information.
- Provide support in creating and approving labels in compliance with all regulatory and product certifications including Kosher, Non-GMO Project, USDA Organic, and vegan certifications. Identifying and approving new ingredients and suppliers, obtaining all necessary documentation, and making updates to supplier approval register.
- Providing technical information such as specifications, nutritional data, shelf life, and regulatory information on potential ingredients and products and effectively communicating this information to members of the team.
- Obtaining and maintaining relevant certifications for new and existing products.
- Customer communication of COAs, supplier approval documents, and complaints and corrective actions.
Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent with comprehensive experience.
o Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or Higher and /or Equivalent Certifications with extensive experience.
· HACCP, SQF, or relevant Food Safety training and certification
· Experience with computer applications.
· Proficient with Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Must have complete flexibility in work hours.
· Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time
· Must be able to perform the job duties of Quality Techs
· Must be able to stand/walk climb ladders etc. for prolonged periods.
· Must be able to lift and carry 25lbs.
· Must have the ability to answer phone calls.
· Some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending.
- Some travel will be required must have driver’s license or the ability to get one.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
