Position Overview:
A Substance Abuse Therapist’s main responsibility is to provide the necessary care and support to help patients begin navigating their road to recovery. Some key tasks of a Therapist include developing treatment and recovery plans, completing required assessments, leading group sessions, managing an individual caseload, and helping clients identify and break behaviors that impede rehabilitation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes required assessments within the appropriate timeframes
- Completes initial individualized treatment plan for each patient and updates them as clinically indicated.
- Facilitates group and individual sessions to meet the needs of patients served.
- Collaborates with case managers, the Clinical Director, Nurse Practitioners, and medical team to ensure patient needs are met and any pertinent issues are addressed
- Identifies and addresses behaviors that interfere with treatment and recovery.
- Facilitates phone calls with family members and other supports within the patients' outside network
- Documents all activities in the patient medical record and files all notes in the charts daily.
- Exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage patient behavior.
- Adheres to strict confidentiality in all communications.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Education/ Experience/ Licensure/Certification:
- Master’s degree required
- Currently licensed by the state of Tennessee is preferred and may be substituted for educational requirements. (LPC-MHSP, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT)
- Minimum of 60 consecutive months with no felonies or substance related convictions.
- Previous experience with the treatment of substance use disorders and common co-occurring disorders.
- Familiarity with electronic health records systems
Knowledge and Training at time of hire or required:
- Knowledge of evidenced-based practices for the treatment of substance use disorders.
- Application of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services’ (SAMHSA) best practice indicators.
- In-depth knowledge of drug and alcohol testing to monitor treatment plans and medical instructions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate nature.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
