Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluates administrative and accounting controls and prepares reports to the Controller, for the purpose of monitoring compliance with company standards. Tasks may include conducting audits and preparing audit reports and identifying problems which require strengthening of internal controls.
- Conducts internal audits for the purpose of reviewing activity on client accounts. Tasks may include monitoring activity and file maintenance in company and accounting records and data processing systems.
- Determines if the company’s authorization system and recording procedures are adequate, for the purpose of providing reasonable accounting control over assets, liabilities, income, and expenses. Tasks may include reviewing cash control procedures and monitoring safeguarding of assets.
- Monitors segregation of duties, for the purpose of providing dual control processes and establishing audit trail. Tasks may include reviewing pertinent documents and processes, and determining if an audit trail exists for all records and systems.
- Prepares and assists in audits conducted by external auditors, the Kansas Insurance Department and/or external client auditors for the purpose of providing required information. Tasks may include compiling requested data and researching items as needed. Task includes reporting to the Board as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
- Minimum three years’ experience in general accounting recommended, with thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Proven investigative skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
