Cascade Park Gardens, Tacoma's premier affordable Memory Care community, is seeking a Full-Time Behavioral Health/Recreation Technician to play a crucial role in enhancing the overall well-being and quality of life for seniors residing within the community. This position involves planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of activities and programs to promote physical, mental, and emotional health. Additionally, the recreation technician is responsible for addressing behavioral health needs and fostering a positive and supportive environment for seniors, all of which suffer from dementia and behavioral diagnoses.
Responsibilities may include:
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities suitable for seniors, considering their interests, abilities, and preferences.
- Conduct programs to improve patients' mental and physical well-being, and instruct patients in activities and techniques, such as sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation techniques designed to meet their specific needs. Monitor and evaluate residents' emotional well-being, identifying potential signs of stress, anxiety, or depression and documenting changes in behavior and participation levels
- Communicate available programs to the residents and encourage participation.
- Be willing to help on the floor with resident care needs as needed.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the job.
- Flexibility in program execution and delivery is an essential part of being successful in this role.
Qualifications and skills:
- Must have at least two (2) years of experience working in a social or recreation program, preferably in a boarding home or long-term care setting, conducting both individual and group activities
- Must be 18 years of age or older and hold a High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be willing to acquire or have HCA/CNA certification from the State of Washington
- Must have knowledge of nursing care practices, especially in the context of geriatric care; state Boarding Home regulations pertaining to resident care
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable, team player, caring, and able to foster an atmosphere of dignity and respect
- Clean background check
- Requires a positive attitude and high energy level
- Requires strong communication skills
