St. Matthew Catholic School Resources Teacher/Part-Time Reading Specialist for K-2nd Grades for the 2024-2025 School Year
Overview: A St. Matthew School Learning Resource Teacher plays an important role in supporting the educational needs of students with diverse learning needs. The Learning Resource Teacher works collaboratively with parents, classroom teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure that all students receive the instruction and assistance to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities: ● Advocate for the needs of students with diverse learning needs within the school community. ● Assist the Dean of Student Services in developing and implementing Learning Resource Plans for students with documented learning differences, attention difficulties, and medical/mental health needs. ● Provide instructional support and Tier 2 and Tier 3 accommodations to students both inside and outside of the classroom; including small-group and one-on-one instruction. ● Collaborate with the classroom teacher by using data-driven information to identify students who need support and make instructional decisions. ● Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to adopt universal strategies and Tier 2 supports for all students to reach their full potential. ● Coordinate SST (Student Success Team) meetings with parents, classroom teachers, the Dean of Student Services, other outside support services, and the student when age appropriate to discuss positive solutions for maximizing student potential. ● Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding progress, goals, and strategies for support. ● Assist the classroom teacher in documenting intervention, support, and accommodations that is provided to students in and out of the classroom (RTI Form). ● Attend professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field • Teaching credential (preferred) • Teaching experience (preferred) • Knowledge of Special Education practices and multisensory instructional practices (preferred) • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to collaborate and work in partnership with parents, teachers, and outside support services • A passion for supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students St. Matthew Catholic School Resources Teacher/Part-Time Reading Specialist for K-2nd Grades for the 2024-2025 School Year
