Must have reception/customer service skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task, as this is a high volume court. Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills, as well as the ability to communicate professionally with the public.
The clerk performs specialized clerical/secretarial work in legal terminology for the Justice of the Peace court system in the assigned precinct. Work involves processing files and documents which may pertain to civil, criminal, truancy, and juvenile court proceedings. Responsible for computer data entry in preparing and modifying files, answering inquiries and assisting the general public, including receiving payment for fees and fines. Also involves balancing and reconciling cash drawers.
High school graduation or equivalent is required. Previous administrative assistant experience and cash-handling experience required.
