REQUIREMENTS
A. EDUCATION: High school graduate preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE: Prior experience with a geriatric population and assisting with programmed activities helpful.
C. SKILLS: Knowledge of the problems affecting the social, psychological and economic well-being of the elderly; ability to physically assist with moving and maneuvering clients as needed; effective communication.
NATURE OF WORK
This position deals directly with the elderly on a day-to-day basis.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cheerfully greet and receive clients each day.
2. Assist with recording daily attendance as each ADC client arrives.
3. Assist with research, organizing and implementing recreation and social activities.
4. Participate in group planning sessions for recreational and social activities.
5. Encourage group socialization.
6. Offer conversation and support to clients.
7. Give assistance to those clients who need help with meals.
8. Give assistance to those clients who need help with personal care, including, but not limited to, assisting and helping move clients from wheelchairs to toilet and back.
9. Assist with preparation of morning and afternoon snacks according to Florida Department of Education's nutrition guidelines.
10. Assist with paperwork associated with the Florida Department of Education's nutrition program and compliance with program requirements.
11. Assist the ADC Nurse with charting in client files.
12. Assist the ADC Case Manager in providing service for clients.
13. Maintain close observation of clients at all times and report any unusual behavior to the ADC Nurse and ADC Case Manager.
14. Ensure safety of clients at all times.
15. Assist in maintaining sanitary restroom conditions and maintain neat and orderly appearance of the Adult Day Care.
16. In the event the President of the United States or the Governor of the State of Florida declares a disaster or a state of emergency, the Adult Day Care Volunteer Aide shall perform his/her duties under the direction of the President /CEO as prescribed by the COASL Disaster Preparedness Plan in order to implement emergency relief measures and/or activities. All actions under this plan shall be for the purpose of ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the elderly in the disaster area.[1]
17. Display initiative in presenting supervisors with new ideas to benefit the Council, its staff and its clientele.
18. Maintain courteous and professional demeanor at all times with supervisors, co-workers, clients and the general public.
19. Other duties as required by the Adult Day Care Director.
