We are currently seeking a Construction Laborer/Driver to join our team today. We have great benefits, paid vacation and PTO time, half paid medical, dental/vision plans, etc.
The Laborer/Driver applicants must have a valid Driver’s license and have at least 2 years’ experiencedriving heavy equipment, preferably in Streetlights, but otherwise site electrical, landscaping, concrete, or electrical construction experience.
This Laborer/Driver Position requires you to have a CDL. If you have one now, then your starting pay will be higher but if you do not, then you are required to get one within the first 60 days of employment and will get a pay raise once obtained. We will pay the costs for the CDL courses and license fees up front. You will not drive all day, this is a Laborer Position so you will be working outside in the field daily and are responsible for gathering materials, digging holes, operating equipment, forming, pouring, and finishing concrete, electrical wiring, conduit installs, lighting installations and maintenance work.
We are based out of Gilbert off of Guadalupe and the US60 but you will be working on various projects across the valley that are both commercial and residential.
Experience in operating a bucket truck, ride-on trencher, air compressor, drilling with a digger derrick or an auger bit on a mini ex or skid steer, or using a vacuum trailer are a plus!
Laborers must be reliable, be able to follow instructions, and work independently. Hourly pay depends on CDL, driving and overall trade experience, concrete skills, electrical skills, and equipment operating and driving skill level.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of Laborer/Driver, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms. The Laborer is frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, balance, talk and hear. The Laborer is also required to drive, sit, climb, crawl and smell.
- Position Requirements:
- You must be able to drive a manual transmission with air brakes.
- Clean driving record and copy of CDL and medical exam as well as current driving record and past employer info are required at interview.
- If you do not have a CDL now you must be willing to get one and pass the tests required in the first 60 days of employment.
- Must be able to get to and from the yard and jobsite locations daily and occasionally travel to multiple jobsites in one day, must have reliable work transportation, some days you may be issued a truck to drive during work hours.
- Must have a smart phone with a data plan to clock in and out at work and to use the Payroll time keeping/job costing application with location services turned on and box.com, texting, and other company required applications.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English with crew, Foreman, and utility and customer reps.
- Be able to work overtime and be available for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Basic ability to use small tools, hand tools, shovels, sharp shooters, picks, jack hammers, wackers, tampers, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly without assistance but must be able to take and pass a physical proving the 50 lb. lift ability.
- Must be able to attend mandatory company meetings and training classes during work or sometimes after work or on weekends if required.
- Must keep a clean driving record and be able to drive a company vehicle, hook up, and pull a trailer, load equipment and properly tie down equipment as needed.
- Must take photos of equipment and loads, do equipment walk around inspections and reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Dig holes and trenches per plans/instructions using manual means.
- Manually dig and form (as required) foundations and junction boxes (jboxes).
- Expose any conflicts with other underground utilities via hand digging.
- Operate jackhammers, earth tampers and concrete mixers.
- Mix and pour concrete, operate air, electric and pneumatic tools, including an air compressor.
- Install lighting control cabinet & pads per plans/instructions/jobsite and/or City requirements.
- Assist with vacuum excavations, concrete removal, boring and drilling.
- Drive a standard transmission truck requiring a CDL.
- Operate a Digger Derrick drill/bucket/crane to drill holes, lift, stand, and remove light poles.
- Drive a truck, pulling a trailer, loaded with heavy machinery, safely from location to location.
- Complete all work in a safe manner, take all safety courses as required by the company.
- Install conduit & wire per plans/instructions.
- Backfill and water settle and/or mechanically compact holes/trenches per plans/instructions.
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Clean debris, trash and hazardous materials from construction sites
- Erect temporary structures and concrete forms
- Use hand tools to cut and shape material as per instructions
- Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process
- Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately, complete walk around inspections.
- Load and unload equipment to/from trucks and trailers
- Assist with traffic control efforts, including flagging, set up, shadow truck assistance, etc.
