We are currently hiring for a Clinical Pharmacy and Investigational Drug Service Pharmacy Director in our Clinical Pharmacy Operations and Research Department. This individual will report to the following individuals: Chief Operating Officer (primary), Medical Director of Clinical Research (secondary) and Chief Nursing Officer (secondary). This individual will coordinate with the COO to provide pharmaceutical operational support in a large infectious disease physician group practice. In addition, they will work with the Medical Director of Clinical Research and CNO to oversee outpatient clinical investigational pharmaceutical research.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures all pharmacy operations follow national accreditation standards.
- Preparation and monitoring of pharmaceutical budget in relation to outpatient medications, vaccinations, and infusion medications.
- Coordinates with Quality Manager to design quality programs evaluating drug and vaccine utilization and safety, policy, and procedures.
- Remains up to date on current pharmaceutical trends through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities to provide guidance and education regarding general and patient specific drug information for patients to CNO, providers and clinical managers/supervisors.
- Coordinates with CNO and Senior Research Coordinator/Manager and oversees all aspects of research policy and protocol development and execution, ensures compliance with established regulations and standards including quality assurance, confidentiality, and documentation.
- Assist Research Coordinator/Manager and Medical Director in conducting research site monitoring visits.
- Perform therapeutic injections and/or vaccine administration or be trained to do so
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Advanced degree, Pharm D (preferred) or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy and completion of a postgraduate residency of fellowship training required.
- A minimum of 5 years in an equivalent role within a health system environment
- Knowledge of GCP, ICH, and US FDA regulations.
- EDC experience.
Certifications:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire; Board Certification preferred.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 yrs of progressively responsible leadership positions with distinguished record of clinical practice
- Minimum of 4 yrs of experience as a clinical specialist or equivalent role that includes providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring including 50% of more of time spent.
- Experience in large medical practice or medical center preferred.

Equipment Operated: Standard clinical equipment and supplies including, EKG, blood pressure machine, thermometer, oxygen tank, AED, syringes, pulse oximetry unit and computer.
Work Environment: Research office and medical exam/treatment rooms. Controlled lightings, air quality and temperature setting. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
Mental and Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, bending, grasping, manipulating and squatting. Occasional need to lift patient during transfer/turn process with or without assistance.
