This is a temporary position. We need a SSHO for one month at Fort Shafter.
The Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for managing, implementing, and enforcing the project Accident Prevention Plan (APP). The SSHO will provide full-time on-site safety and occupational health management, observance, inspections, training, and safety enforcement. Ultimately, a safety and health officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of all workers on a jobsite.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Conducting project-specific safety training
- Carrying out site inspections to identify hazards
- Training employees for emergency situations and evacuations
- Maintaining a site-specific reference materials and accident prevention plan
- Performing daily inspections of equipment and the site
- Responding to any safety concerns
- Conduct safety orientations and meetings with personnel at the jobsite
- Conduct mishap investigations
- Implementing an accident prevention plan for handling hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste.
Requirements:
- High School diploma Required. Associate or Bachelors preferred.
- 5 years’ continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/managing general construction
- Posses an OSHA 30 certification
- Understands and is committed to ethical & professional conduct
- Knowledge of MS Office products combined with good communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills desirec.
- Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR training or equivalent is recommended.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
