What You'll do:
We are seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join a large intelligence program. The ISSE integrates security controls into the system architecture, ensuring the project’s resilience against evolving cyber threats. Working closely with the ISSO, they ensure that the project meets all security compliance requirements, protecting sensitive information and maintaining system integrity. Responsibilities include:
Support the design, integration, and testing phases of the program by implementing robust security controls and ensuring the system’s architecture meets client’s cybersecurity standards.
Work closely with system architects and developers to integrate security into the project's design, focusing on data protection, secure authentication, and access control.
Develop and implement security control requirements for the project, as defined in CNSSI 1253 and client-specific overlays for PII and SCI protection.
Guide the application of DISA STIGs, SRGs, and other security hardening measures across the project’s components, documenting compliance efforts in the client RMF system of record.
Assist in the development and execution of security test procedures, ensuring the effectiveness of security controls and the system’s readiness for security assessments.
Generate and maintain the complete security Body of Evidence (BoE) according to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes (ICD 503, CNSSI-1253, NIST 800-37, NIST 800-53, etc.).
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with DoD or IC cybersecurity engineering and RMF processes, specifically in a cloud or enterprise IT environment.
Expertise in network and system security technologies, encryption standards, and cross-domain solutions.
Ability to translate technical requirements into security measures that align with customers' cybersecurity posture
Active TS/SCI Clearance with eligibility for CI Poly
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, or related degree
Minimum 6 years’ experience supporting Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and information assurance processes and documentation using RMF
DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certifications (e.g., Security+) certifications

The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Groundswell, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:
$103,197.00 - $182,964.00
