Winston Preparatory School is searching for candidates for a full-time Speech Language Pathologist at the Marin County campus in San Rafael, California. This position is for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Winston Preparatory School is a co-ed private day school for 3-12th-grade students with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, expressive or receptive language disorders, and executive functioning difficulties. Essential Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a highly professional, creative thinker who is flexible and works well within a team environment. Candidates must also have excellent writing and communication skills.

- Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment
- Target skill based strategies and techniques, via Winston’s 1:1 daily Focus Program, to improve the development of receptive/expressive language, cognition, memory, executive function, written language and organization, as well as implementation of social- emotional/pragmatic skills as described in our ‘Qualities of a Sustainable and Independent Learner’ (QSIL) model
- Instruct up to 7 students in the daily 1:1 Focus setting, however class instruction- literature, written language and pragmatic skills- are potential class opportunities within our setting
- Employ special educational strategies and techniques to improve the development of receptive/expressive language, cognition, memory, executive function, written language and organization, as well as the targeting of social- emotional skills as described in our’ Qualities of a Sustainable and Independent Learner (QSIL).
- Instruct students using a variety of techniques including multi-sensory learning and repetition to reinforce learning and to meet students’ varying needs and interests
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and practice that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students
- Provide weekly communication/observations with parents and the teaching team to discuss student’s progress and to determine priorities and individualized educational needs
- Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other outside professionals to develop individualized goals and objectives designed to promote students’ educational and social/emotional development
- Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities
- Perform related work as required, including internal team communications, 3 yearly student report writing cycles and attendance at various school events, activities and conferences

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, CCC-SLP, with a minimum of 3 years of experience
- Special education background is preferred but not required
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Meet, and Classroom
