Contract Introduction:
The Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) of the Government of the District of Columbia is the District’s juvenile justice agency. DYRS administers detention, commitment and aftercare services for youth held in its care in its facilities or residing in the community. The mission of the DYRS is to improve public safety and give court-involved youth the opportunity to become more productive citizens by building on the strengths of youth and their families in the least restrictive, most homelike environment consistent with public safety. In efforts to carry out the mission of the Agency and maintain a home-like environment, New Beginnings is seeking a contractor to deliver a program to teach the youth customer service skills as well as gain a OSHA and ATSSA certifications.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct training sessions for new hires and existing employees in various areas of the restaurant industry, including food service, food handling, kitchen operations, sales techniques, and customer service.
- Develop training materials and resources to support the learning process.
- Assess trainees' progress and provide feedback to ensure their understanding and mastery of the skills being taught.
- Collaborate with management to identify training needs and develop training programs that align with organizational goals.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve training programs.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and make necessary adjustments to optimize learning outcomes.
Skills:
- Must hold ServSafe certification
- Must be a D.C. resident
- Must be able to conduct / facilitate training on Monday 6 - 8 PM EST, in-person, in Laurel, MD
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Strong knowledge of the restaurant industry, including food service, food handling, kitchen operations, sales techniques, and customer service.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively deliver training sessions.
- Proficiency in basic math skills, including calculations related to sales, inventory, and financial transactions in the food industry.
- Ability to adapt training methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Organizational skills to develop training materials and resources that are clear, concise, and engaging.
- Flexibility to adjust training schedules and content based on the needs of trainees and the organization.
- Experience in the culinary field or a related industry is preferred but not required.
