INTRODUCTION
- This position is located in Upper Marlboro, MD
- The core working hours are 3:00 pm - 7:00pm, Monday through Friday
- The rate of pay is $16.20 per hour
- This position requires a valid Drivers License
- Under the supervision of the Lead Worker, the Laundry Worker performs assigned laundry, custodial and maintenance tasks necessary to support Facility Management Services Operations
- The incumbent will be responsible for the daily collection, loading, unloading and laundry of articles from contract sites
- Pre-employment criminal background checks and drug testing are required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides collection, sorting and processing of all articles to be laundered
- Loads or unloads (manually and/or automated) trucks or other transportation devices
- Ensures safe conditions exist at all times in and around vehicle while in operation
- Follows State, Federal and local rules and regulations regarding vehicle operation and material transport
- Drives assigned route to all locations and collects, loads and unloads materials as required
- Maintains accurate, complete mileage and collection information per contract requirements
- Performs daily pre and post trip inspections of truck fluids, batteries, tires and safety equipment
- Ensures equipment safety precautions are exercised to prevent damage in the performance of collection
- Immediately reports any accidents, damage, collision, injury, etc., through the appropriate reporting process
- Ensures that all fire and safety precautions are strictly adhered to and material handling and delivery equipment are properly utilized
- Ensures laundry is completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Other duties as assigned

- The incumbent is supervised by the Lead Worker
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- The incumbent must be able to stand 80% of the work time, walk 15%, and sit 5%
- He/She must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds in order to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and handle
- All of these requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches and corners
- Must be able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers; must be able to see, have depth perception and tell colors for safety reasons and to distinguish between chemicals
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must have three to six months training or experience, or be capable of learning to perform the essential functions
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
