Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) has an exciting Systems Analyst II opportunity available within the Information Technology Servicing and Operations Support group.
About the Role
In this Systems Analyst II role, you will plan, test, implement, and validate IT system solutions that improve business efficiency and productivity as well as support business strategies and goals. You will also Identify and communicate business needs and translate business requirements into technical system and functional specifications.
Additional aspects/functions of the role:
- Participate in business short-term planning sessions to ensure understanding of business goals, direction, and business requirements; provide input from an IT systems perspective. Provide data on cost projections for own work.
- Serve as a liaison between business areas and the IT organization and vendors in coordination with project managers to provide technical solutions that address user needs.
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements. Formulate and define system scope and objective based on user needs and understanding of business processes. Develop, write, and communicate systems design, functional system specifications and functional architecture analysis.
- Develop user and/or system test cases and validate test results during testing, as needed. Document system modifications. Support/develop system manuals. Support and may develop system enhancement communication.
- Identify, investigate, resolve, and escalate problems as needed. Gather data to support recommendations to address problems.
- Procure technical assistance to help in problem resolution. Work closely with developers and other support personnel to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction, as needed. Aid in business case development (i.e., research, data collection, systems), as needed.
- Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies.
- Ensure understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and impact of work on the achievement of the service levels. Support measurement and achievement of SLAs.
- Coach and mentor less experienced team members.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- Three (3) years of relevant system solution development, testing and implementation work experience required.
DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex systems and data feeds.
- Experience in data analysis tools and techniques (including SQL, Excel, MongoDB)
- Experience in log analysis on Unix servers and Splunk.
- Ability to satisfy data requests using log queries and other tools.
- Experience with Postman, SoapUI, and other tools to test APIs.
- Familiarity with JIRA.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with other teams.
- Effective problem-solving skills to identify, evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to processes or procedures to address problems and improve departmental effectiveness.
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize; must be able to coordinate multiple activities with varying timelines.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Willingness to validate software deployments outside of regular business hours (weekdays and sometimes weekends).
- Willingness to be part of an on-call rotation schedule, providing support during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience with Cherwell Service Management and understanding of logging/tracking/resolving issues.
- Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems.
Basic understanding of Membership, Claims, and EOBs is preferred.
