Job Summary: Provides professional quality care for NewLIFE patients following established standards and practices. Our emphasis is on excellent patient care and achieving the highest success rates. The Medical Assistant is committed to providing excellent patient centered care. Medical Assistant handles clinical and clerical support tasks.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assist IVF coordinator.
- Create Artificial Reproductive Technology (ART)/Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) medication schedules, cycle flowsheets, ART/FET prescriptions, per orders and guidance.
- Ensures all test(s) required for treatment cycles are updated and appropriate.
- ART voicemails and patient communications.
- Involve the nurse practitioners with any clinical decision questions (task-oriented position).
- Complete precycle checklists for patient cycles. Ensure master list is updated and accurate with list of patients going through the cycle.
- Creating monitoring appointments for patients based upon the predesignated treatment cycle template.
- Follow all HCG pregnancy results per protocol, including the nurse practitioners if any decisions/questions for next steps.
- Ensuring Reprotech Long Term Storage forms are complete and up to date for all ART/FET patients.
- Perform patient vital signs, phlebotomy and other required tests, record patient history and obtain any information the physician may request to enable him/her to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient.
- Assist provider with procedures such as Office Hysteroscopy, Saline Infusion, Ultrasounds, (IUI's) Intrauterine Inseminations, triage, and any other procedures as indicated.
- Manages rooming and patient flow.
- Informs provider of schedule changes that impact patient flow.
- Prepping exam rooms, stocking and cleaning.
- Injections as needed.
- Supply inventory.
- Provide support to the provider by anticipating provider needs.
- Return patient phone calls and fields/processes messages.
- New Patient records: Request and reading through to find recent labs /op reports/IVF records/male chromosomal testings.
- Create PDF's for all reports.
- Record labs as needed in testing summary.
- Upload results to Electronic Medical Record.
- Alert clinical staff of any abnormal lab test.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Required skills include:
- Must be flexible, self-motivated and willing to accept a variety of assignments
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with electronic medical records as well as other software for scheduling
- Professional, patient-friendly demeanor in person as well as over the phone
Education and Qualifications:
- Certification of Medical Assistant School.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills needed, strong organizational ability required.
